Sherco Motorcycles group has announced the joint launch, for Sherco and Scorpa, of new 125 TY Long Ride and Limited Edition models – “versatile, simple, easy, value for money fun.”

Known as a manufacturer of enduro, rally, and trial motorcycles, the French manufacturer Sherco has launched the new 125 TY with two editions and in two brands along with Scorpa (if you didn’t know, the Sherco Motorcycles group includes Scorpa motorcycles under the same umbrella).

Described as a versatile bike, the two versions of this 125 four-stroke are called the Long Ride and Limited Edition which are identical for both Sherco and Scorpa and differing only the colours; blue and orange respectively.

Easy rider

The new Sherco/Scorpa 125 TY quite obviously is born of the company’s experience in trials but they say the bike also draws from the enduro side to merge both worlds into a new, all-terrain model. It’s a motorcycle that the manufacturer describes as: “fun, simple, easy, and with excellent value for money.”

Primarily intended for leisure riding and with zero racing aspirations, the TY (yes, we’re not immune to the connection with Yamaha trials bikes here either) stands as an ideal bike for off-road beginners or for those who simply want to explore riding on trails and off-piste or even as a slightly more interesting than the norm daily commuter bike.

Two TY models

The standard model, named Long Ride on both Sherco and Scorpa models, features an electric start (and kick start) with a handlebar button, semi-hydraulic clutch, adapted trials chassis, plus a simple and reliable air-cooled, 125cc, four-stroke engine which promises easy maintenance and a range of 90 kilometres.

Essentially it is a package designed to make life easy for its owners, complemented by a soft trial-style engine guard as an off-road protection element, although we think it should maybe have standard handguards as well.

The 125 TY also comes in a special version, dubbed the ‘Limited Edition’, features exclusive components:

  • 39mm diameter Tech fork in grey on the Sherco, and 40mm diameter aluminium Marzocchi fork with compression and rebound adjustments on the Scorpa
  • Reiger shock absorber on the Sherco, and Öhlins on the Scorpa
  • Specific graphics kit for both brands
  • Galfer wave front and rear brake discs
  • Front and rear wheels with white hubs on the Sherco, and golden rims on the Scorpa
  • Michelin tyres with tubeless rear wheel on all models

We don’t know their availability in dealerships, although we do know their price in Europe is €4,499 for the standard model and €4,990 for the special edition.
