Keep calm and let it snow! That’s the mantra for Italy’s Winter Wheels — a dirt bike race on a ski slope.
It’s sounds crazy but it’s a race that’s been happening for over five years now at the Italian ski resort of Prato Nevoso near the Italian-French border close to Sanremo.
The ski resort basically hosts a race on their slopes. No spiked tyres or fancy paddle tyres are allowed and the finals are under floodlights at night.
It looks like a right bit of fun — the perfect dirt bike/skiing holiday. Book us in for 2018!
This year’s race was won by Honda’s David Soreca…
“I race the preliminary tests without mistakes make it into the final round. But there I crashed in the first corner because of the snow and so I had to make a comeback.
“It has been so motivating, because I passed all my opponents despite the mistake. On the last lap I managed to pass Gerini and Cavallo, finishing first. Behind me Cavallo was second, Gerini third, Albergoni fourth, Philippaerts fifth and Freeman sixth”.
