Husqvarna’s Pascal Rauchenecker put in a dominant ride at the opening round of the Austrian Enduro Championship to claim victory.

Austria's Enduro Championship started with the legendary "Stang the Race" in southern Lower Austria around Kirchschlag about 500 riders found perfect race conditions for the weekend.

Several communities and localities worked together to create a challenging 70km enduro course through the Bucklige world.

The best places in the classification have been secured by those two pilots, who are on the international enduro stage this year. EnduroGP star Pascal Rauchenecker (Husqvarna) won on Saturday and Sunday.

The reigning Austrian champion Bernhard Schöpf (KTM) was second place on both days. Schöpf will also compete for the Enduro European Championship this year.

“It is really a great thing that you can get such a race in Austria," says Pascal Rauchenecker. “When I race at home, I always want to do my best.

“I made few mistakes, kept my pace and always gave 100%. It's a good thing that it has turned out well.

Runner-up Schöpf put pressure on him all the time losing only half a minute to Rauchenecker. The 26-year-old from Karres in Tyrol was very satisfied with his weekend…

“Racing with Pascal is always fun. We pushed each other and I have also been able to take back some of it. In the penultimate enduro test we were equal. In the last test I was then a second faster. This fits very well for my European Enduro Championship preparation.”

Also putting in a strong performance was Michael Feichtinger. He was also the best placed ÖM junior.

On Sunday, the Steirer Patrick Neisser (Husqvarna) took the lead on the podium. A highly successful comeback after two difficult years with a lot of injuries…

“I am happy! I made a great comeback. After nearly a year of racing, the speed is almost the same again. I am very motivated for the next races.”

The next round of the Enduro ÖM will take place on 22 April in Styria - within the framework of the "Enduro Trophy" in St. Peter on the Kammersberg.

Then the ÖM round in Croatia will take place on 13th and 14th May 2017.
