Starting in Aldershot, Hampshire on February 11/12 the series will team up with The British Army where a carefully selected area of land has been chosen to start the series in style. Selected not only because the all-weather, sandy terrain offers fantastic ground that will ensure enjoyable and exciting racing, the MOD training area also offers easy and direct vehicular access and a hard standing paddock - the perfect package to get the new championship started in the best possible way, no matter what the weather.
With the championship once again consisting of five two-day events competitors have plenty to look forward to throughout the 10-day series. Following the February start championship events will then take place one per month during March, April and May before reaching a spectacular finale in mid June at the superb Canada Heights facility in Kent.
The BSEC series will return to one of the most picturesque venues used during this year’s championship for rounds three and four of the 2012 series - Llangrove, situated between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. Offering a diverse array of natural terrain, the fast and flowing farmland circuit will again feature a fantastic hillside ‘scramble’ track, an abundance of cross-country style obstacles and plenty of grass tracks to deliver a very different event to the season opener. Again run with the generous support of the Mercian Dirt Riders the event will take place on March 10/11.
Rounds five and six sees the series visit Mid Wales on April 7/8. Saints Well in the heart of enduro country will play host to a round of the BSEC series for a third consecutive year where two days of close racing action are assured. Returning to a course that will be run 100 per cent on farmland, for 2012 the event will revisit a similar style track to that which brought the 2010 series to a superb close.
From the championship’s most westerly event the series returns to Northants on May 19/20 and the enjoyable and exciting Adstone Venue, supported by Enduroland. Offering a very different style of course the centrally located and easily accessible venue will definitely deliver some of the series’ closest racing, just as it did in 2011.
Last but by no means least the series will end at the amazing Canada Heights facility in Kent on June 16/17. Thanks to the generous support of Sidcup & DMCC rounds nine and 10 will see the championship end at one of the UK’s most prestigious venues. Bringing the stunning motocross track together with the generous grass track and woodland areas on offer the course will have plenty to suit all riders, ensuring a truly memorable end to the 2012 BSEC series.
GMC Events would like to extent their sincere thanks to The British Army, Mercian Dirt Riders, Enduroland, and Sidcup & DMCC for their association, assistance and generous support of the BSEC series.
‘In mixing exciting new venues with some of the best tracks used in 2011 all involved in the Husqvarna ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship are hugely excited by what the 2012 season has on offer,’ commented BSEC events director Jonty Edmunds. ‘This year’s series went extremely well with fantastic racing and a friendly, sociable atmosphere at all events. The changes made for 2012 ensure a fantastic and diverse selection of venues, which we are confident will make for another great championship.
‘Finding a sandy venue for the opening round in February was imperative, and we’re thrilled that with assistance from The British Army we’ve uncovered a real gem. Everything from the superb all-weather terrain to the hard standing paddock, added to the fact that the track and paddock are a stone’s throw apart, make it a fantastic place to start the new series. The three following venues all proved extremely popular this season and by mixing them with the two new venues we hope to further establish the British Sprint Enduro series as an exciting and enjoyable championship.
‘Each venue will offer something different to the others, as they did this year. Ending the championship at a venue as prestigious as Canada Heights is something we’re extremely proud of. So much more than just a motocross track, the variety of terrain on offer will surprise a lot of people and ensures a fantastic sprint enduro to end what we hope will be a great championship.’
