After a slow start to day one, Italy’s Simone Albergoni fought hard to find is pace on the long and technical enduro test. Upping his speed towards the end of the day after finding a comfortable setting with his bike, Albergoni placed a satisfying fourth.
Determined to return to the podium like he had done at every round of the championship so far, Albergoni started day two in a confident mood. However, making a major mistake on the rutted hill climb in the first extreme test of the morning, the HM Honda rider found himself in 13th position and over one-minute behind the leader. Battling back from his lowly position, Albergoni made an impressive recovery to finish third in Enduro 1 and maintain his second position in the championship standings.
It was a tough weekend for his teammate Rodrig Thain. Fifth on day one, the Frenchman placed sixth on day two.
Simone Albergoni – Enduro 1: “Without the mistake I made on Sunday, maybe I should have also fighting for the victory, because I recorded good times in all the various special. The mud on the ground made the track really difficult and for me it was hard to drive as I’m able to do. I'm still pretty happy about my race because I confirmed my second place in the championship”.
