On the fifth and final day of the fantastic rally in Sardinia, Alessandro Botturi, teammate to Viladoms, set the pace to claim the last stage win of the hot and difficult race.
Placing second overall on the final stage, Coma ended his rally on the third step of the podium. Adding his result in Sardinia to his two victories in Dubai and Qatar, the KTM wrapped up the world championship with one round to spare.
After leading the way throughout the rally, Villadom’s rode a tactical final day to secure his first ever rally win. Maintaining a fast pace where navigation was easy and reducing his pace when the terrain became more technical, the Spaniard crossed the finish line to grab a well-deserved rally win.
Unable to recover from his costly mistake on day one, Yamaha’s Helder Rodrigues finished fourth overall, while rally legend Stephane Peterhansel (Yamaha) misses out on a top five finish but placed an incredible sixth.
