KTM’s Bobby Prochnau wins rounds one and two of the Canadian Enduro Championship in Vermon, BC…

After a long winter break the opening rounds of the Royal Distributing Canadian Enduro Championship got under way at an all-new venue in Vermon. With a 45km loop that covered thousands of feet in elevation changes across the mountains, competitors fought it out over the three special tests on offer. With the Rekluse Extreme Test just minutes walk from the paddock it also offered a perfect opportunity for spectators and families involved to check out some of the action.

As expected it was the KTM of Bobby Prochnau that led the field of riders home on day one. Making short work of the course, he topped both the overall and Enduro 2 standings. Honda’s Jason Schrage chased him home for second with Kawasaki’s Josh Allen completing the top three.

Finishing a strong third overall, Honda mounted Tyler Murray also won Enduro 1. Filling out the E1 podium, the Husqvarna duo of Guy Giroux and Philippe Chaine placed second and third.

In Enduro 3 Husaberg’s Ben Rego clinched victory ahead of Thomas Cordner and KTM’s Malcolm Hett.

Continuing from where he left off, Prochnau was once again the rider to beat on day two. Comfortably claiming the overall win he also won Enduro 2. Behind him Schrage fended off a late charge by Husqvarna’s Ryan Graffunder to place second with Graffunder rounding out the top three in Enduro 2.

Giroux secured his second win of the weekend in Enduro 1 beating off a string of young hopefuls including second placed Murray and Chaine.

Enduro 3 saw a new winner emerge as KTM’s Kevin Dyck grabbed the win pushing Rego back to second and Hett into third.

In the Women’s class, both KTM’s Shelby Turner and Chantelle Bykerk had returned from their X Games EnduroCross commitments to finish first and second. Gas Gas’ Victoria Hett completed the top three.

The Canadian Enduro Championship continues with rounds three and four at Racehorse Creek, Blairmore, Alberta on July 14/15.
