After the surprise win of Emmanuel Albepart in Enduro 3 on day one, Sherco’s Fabien Planet grabbed the headlines on day two as he won Enduro 1.
KTM’s Antoine Meo looked all but certain of the win until he lost over one-minute with a derailed chain. With Meo out of the reckoning, the race for victory centred between Planet and Honda’s Rodrig Thain. Trailing Thain by over 12 seconds, Planet set a blistering pace on the final lap to grab the win. Thain finished as runner up to Planet while Meo recovered to finish third.
All hands on deck for Renet...
In Enduro 2 Finland’s Juha Salminen (Husqvarna) held an early lead with Husaberg’s Pela Renet in close pursuit. Taking control of the proceedings after the fourth special test, Renet faced a strong challenge from KTM’s Jeremy Tarroux. Sensing victory, Tarroux pushed hard for victory in the final lap only to fall two seconds short of the win. With Renet securing his second win of the weekend, Tarroux placed second while Salminen completed the top three.
Nambotin was back on top for day two...
Determined to make amends for his previous day’s mistake, KTM’s Christophe Nambotin proved unbeatable on day two. Leading the way throughout the day, the KTM rider claimed the win by almost two minutes. Behind Nambotin, Gas Gas’ Sebastien Guillaume jumped one place to finish second with day one winner Emmanuel Albepart (Beta) rounding out the top three.
Mathias Bellino (Husaberg) recorded a commanding victory in Enduro Junior. Kevin Rohmer (Yamaha) improved on his day one result to place second while Yamaha mounted Julian Jagu was third.
The French Enduro Championship continues with round four in Peyrat-Le-Chateau on September 8/9.
