On The Spot – Matti Seistola

With Husqvarna CH Racing Monster Energy’s Matti Seistola competing in this weekend's final round of the British Sprint Enduro Championship at Canada Heights we put him on the spot…

Name: Matti Seistola

Nationality: Finnish

Team: Husqvarna CH Racing Monster Energy

Class: Enduro 1

Bike: Husqvarna TE 250

Number of years racing? Almost 17 years now, I started when I was 12.

First trophy you ever won? It took me three years to win a trophy. I was 15 and I won the Finish 85cc Junior motocross championship.

What's so special about winning? Being able to reward your team with victory after all the effort they've put in to helping you race.

Favourite type of special test? A fast, hard pack mountain forest enduro test.

Need to improve on? Extreme tests. Those rocky uphills always seem to bite me!

What's unique about your hometown? I live in Pirkkala, Finland. It's almost 170km north of Helsinki and in the winter the sun never shines – it's dark all the time.

What's your favourite place on earth? Maybe first place! But if I can't be there it's at home in Finland chilling out by the lake.

The best country you've raced in? Australia. I raced three rounds of the Australian motocross championship in 2010, and it was an awesome trip.

How do you train for enduro? I love to mountain bike and road cycle.

When you're not racing how do you relax? I try to keep busy whether it's snowboarding in the winter or cycling in the summer.

What music are you listening to? Right now it's punk rock.

What are your favourite websites? I try to read the Finnish news sites to find out what's happening at home when I'm away, and of course enduro21.

Facebook or Twitter? Facebook. Find me on matti Seistola.
