Ivan Cervantes has confirmed that, like several of the Enduro World Championship’s top riders, he’ll announce his plans for the coming year ‘in the next few days’, which will most likely be at the close of the eighth and final round of this year’s EWC series.
Newly crowned overall and Enduro 2 Spanish Champion, Cervantes is expected to announce that he will be making a return to KTM for 2013 – the team he spent the first nine years of his enduro career with, during which time he collected four Enduro World Championships. “After quite a few weeks of intense speculation about my future, I hope to dispel all doubts when I finish the World Championship next weekend,” explained Ivan. “Within a few days I will explain more information about the 2013 season.”Wrapping up the Spanish championship last weekend Ivan sportingly admitted that winning the title would have ‘tasted better’ if he’d been able to race against Cristobal Guerrero, his closest championship rival this year who opted not to race having dislocated his shoulder at the ISDE in Germany.

“I would have liked to have won fighting to the end against my strongest rival, who has been ‘Cris’,” commented Ivan. “I know what it is like to lose a title because of an injury, but winning always taste better the more intense the struggle to achieve it is. I just hope that Cristobal recovers well and he can fight for the Enduro 2 World Championship this weekend in France.”
