The Red Bull Sea to Sky got off to a spectacular and exciting start as KTM’s Jonny Walker topped the action packed Beach Race before Husaberg’s Graham Jarvis made short work of the technical Forest Race to claim the win.

With the Beach Race located on the picturesque Kemer coastline, the 130 competitors entered in this year’s event gathered in the early morning sun to do battle in the 15-minute plus 2-lap race.

Husaberg’s Xavi Galindo grabbed the holeshot but was quickly followed by Walker. Cleary enjoying the soft, sandy conditions, Walker wasted little time in hitting the front of the field and led the race at the end of the opening lap. Opening up a comfortable advantage, Walker ended the event almost 15 seconds clear of Galindo.

Crashing early on the opening lap after a top ten start, Germany’s Andreas Lettenbichler (Husqvarna) battled his way through the deep field of international riders to snatch third place on the penultimate lap.

With Austria’s Lars Encokl finishing in fourth, Graham Jarvis rode a steady race to complete the top five.

Following the Beach Race podium celebrations, rider made their way to the start of the Forest Race. Setting off in 30 seconds intervals determined by their finishing order in the Beach Race, Walker was the first rider to enter the stage.

Although with a clear track to race on, he had few definitive lines to follow and after the halfway point in the race a charging Jarvis soon caught him.

Jarvis, who started fifth, quickly charged his way towards the head of field and after catching up to Walker, stayed close to with the KTM rider to secure the Forest Race win with a comfortable two-minute margin of victory.

Improving on his Beach Race result, Lettenbichler narrowly beat Walker by 11 seconds after 70 minutes of racing to finish second. With Walker rounding out the podium in third, Galindo disappointingly ended his race just 20 seconds behind Walker in fourth, with Britain’s Paul Bolton (KTM) completing the top five.

The Red Bull Sea to Sky concludes with the Olympus Mountain Race on Sunday October 21.
