Only days after news emerged that Chilean Francisco Lopez had deflected from the troubled Italian Bordone Ferrari team it’s now certain that former teammate Jordi Villadoms has followed suit…

Viladoms, who finished as runner up in the 2012 Cross Country Rally World Championship with his former team, has now confirmed that’ll he race for Husqvarna through a satellite supported team Tamarugal XC.

Teaming up with Tamarugal XC ensures Viladoms, who placed fourth overall in the Dakar Rally during 2012, will take to the start line of the 2013 race in Lima, South America on January 5th.

The move will see the Spaniard race an official Speedbrain Husqvarna TE449RR while receiving the support and technical assistance of Tamarugal XC to complete the 10,000km long race.

“I knew it was going to be complicated to arrive to the Dakar, so all I can do is to thank for their cooperation in such a short time. I hope to be able to give back this help through my results,” confirmed a relieved Jordi.

“Since the first day, Tamarugal XC was excited with the possibility to cooperate in a common project for the Dakar 2013. Until now, they have done everything possible, taking into account the short amount of time to organise the structure. The Husqvarna TE449RR is a bike that has come through an incredible evolution during the season and I am convinced that its performance will be successful.”

Although not an ideal situation to be in at such a late stage in the build up to the Dakar Rally, the move now confirms that Viladoms will compete in this year’s rally. However whether or not his former team will be there still remains to be seen.

For now it seems the saga that faces Bordone Ferrari continues…
