Cervantes, who announced in September he would not be racing for Gas Gas in 2013, rejoins KTM for the coming year. Competing alongside Frenchman Johnny Aubert in the Enduro 2 class, the Spaniard will contest the KTM 350EXC in the Enduro World Championship.
No stranger to the Austrian brand, Cervantes collected four enduro world titles with KTM when he rode for them from 2002 until 2010 before moving to Gas Gas. Now confirmed as returning to the team with whom he enjoyed so much success, Cervantes is hungry to win again.
Commenting on the signing of Cervantes to KTM, team boss Fabio Farioli remarked…
“Ivan was born into the sport with KTM and he enjoyed a great deal of success while riding with us over a very long period. It was natural that he wanted to experience a change and race with a Spanish team but we were looking for a top rider for next season and we think he can win again. He has the capacity to win and with the KTM 350 EXC we will give him the power to do so.”
With both Cervantes and Johnny Aubert set to compete in E2, Cristobal Guerrero will join Antoine Meo in E1 while Christophe Nambotin remains in E3.
