Phillips made the announcement last night, via his Facebook page: "Have some awesome news, just got welcomed into the Husqvarna family. Racing for the factory team in the World Enduro Championship next year. Very excited/nervous/confident about the change. Thanks to everyone who helped me get this far, especially my family who has backed me the whole way.”

The 19-year will reportedly take on the Enduro Junior class during his debut Enduro World Championship season, competing against Danny McCanney (Gas Gas) and Giacomo Redondi (KTM).

Coming from a motocross background, Phillips has rapidly risen to prominence on the enduro scene over the past few years and recently claimed top honours in both the 2012 Australian Off-Road Championship E2 Class and 2012 Wildwood Rock Extreme Enduro.

Phillips has also made himself known on the international stage with standout performances at last two International Six Day Enduro events, where he has taken to the track as a member of Team Australia. At this year's edition of the race in Germany, he helped the team ride to second in the Senior Trophy division while also claiming an impressive individual result of seventh overall and fourth in the Enduro 2 class.

The 2013 Enduro World Championship is scheduled to get underway in Talca, Chile on 16 March.
