Vogels Aiming For Dutch Hat-Trick

‘Can Husaberg’s Hans Vogels continue his winning ways?’ That’s the question being asked In Holland ahead of this weekend’s third round of the 2012 Dutch National Enduro Championship. Clinching victory in both rounds one and two, Vogels enters the Holten event as clear favourite.

Grabbing a convincing win at round one of the series in Enter, Vogels faced stiff competition from his closest challenger Mark Wassink (KTM). For Wassink, Einhoven was promising to be a strong result. Fastest during the early morning special tests, a mistake on the second Cross test allowed Vogels to close the gap.

With Vogel’s then finding his rhythm he gradually began to open out an advantage over Wassink. Upping his pace he eventually finished the day almost 18 seconds clear to snatch victory in both E2 and the overall classification. For Vogels, claiming his third win of the series will be an important one but with Wassink hopeful of bettering his rival in Holten, the battle for top honours is almost certainly set to continue.

Heading E3 is Amel Advokaat (KTM) – the only other man to remain undefeated so far in the championship. Grabbing a double victory in both Enter and Eindhoven, Advokaat knows that he must continue to up his game if he wants to bridge the gap to the leading duo in E2. Comfortably topping E3, Advokaat placed over one-minute clear of his nearest competitor Erwin Plekkenpol (KTM).

With a one-off outing by Frenchman Fabien Planet (Sherco) winning E1 at round two, it is TM’s Lucas Dolfing that heads the E1 championship standings after the opening two rounds of the series.

Round three of the 2012 Dutch Enduro Championship continues at Holten, Overijssel on Saturday March 3.
