Manx duo Knight & McCanney favourites for continued BSEC success at the second stop of the 2012 Husqvarna ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship…
The 2012 Husqvarna ACU BSEC series continues at pace this weekend with the series heading to Llangrove, near Monmouth on the England/Wales boarder, where Britain’s best will again take on international stars Taddy Blazusiak and Ricky Dietrich
Moving away from the sandy, forests of the opening rounds, the picturesque Llangrove circuit will offer a farmland track that’ll be in complete contrast to rounds one and two. Mixing a natural hillside scrambles circuit with technical woodland, the venue will ensure another weekend of exiting race action.
Topping the overall classification at round two Gas Gas UK’s Under 23 sensation Danny McCanney is set to enter the weekend as red-hot favourite for top honours in the Under 23 class. By claiming a double victory in Aldershot, the reigning Under 23 champion got his title defence off to the perfect start. Grabbing a commanding victory at round one, the young Manxman fought back in the closing moments of round two to snatch the win on the final test. But will he be able to do the same at rounds three and four?
At the series opener it was Frenchman Johnny Aubert (KTM) and David Knight (KTM) that shared victory in the Elite class. With Aubert absent this time round, Knight will be keen to continue his winning ways, as well as making sure the younger Manxman Danny McCanney doesn’t top the overall classification once again.
Finishing second overall at round one, Poland’s Taddy Blazusiak (KTM) returns to the BSEC eager to improve on his previous result. Continuing to use the series as preparation for his upcoming US Endurocross championship defence in May, the newly crowned SuperEnduro World Champion could face a strong challenge from the vastly improved Electraction TM mounted Jordan Rose, and Husqvarna’s Ricky Dietrich.
Now fully recovered from a knee injury sustained prior to round two, Husqvarna’s Ricky Dietrich returns determined to challenge the Elite class frontrunners. Mixing in the former Grand Prix motocross star turned enduro rider, Tom Church (KTM) along Si Wakely (Husaberg), Jamie Lewis (Husqvarna) and Daryl Bolter (KTM), the Elite class is sure to be another closely fought class.
In the Under 19 category KTM mounted Steve Holcombe got his BSEC series campaign off to a perfect start with a commanding double victory. With confidence now high, Holcombe will be keen to keep his winning streak alive. Joe Jones (KTM) finished runner up to Holcombe on both days in Aldershot to get the better of Aaron Smith (Husaberg) and Joe Wotton (Kawasaki)
Competing in the newly introduced 125 Youth Cup, Husaberg’s Jamie McCanney convincingly won both rounds in Aldershot and remains favourite to do so in Llangrove. Behind him the battle for the remainder of the podium places will be as hot as ever. Josh Gotts (TM), Lee Sealey (KTM), Brad Freeman (KTM) and Jack Staines (Yamaha) are all capable of a top result.
Winning rounds one and two, Richard Ely (KTM) got his participation in the Expert class off to the best possible start and will be looking to keep his winning form alive this time out. However faced with strong challenges from Jack Lee (Gas Gas), Tyson Maytom Jones (Husaberg), James Jackman (Honda) and Oliver Hart (KTM), Ely will have his work cut out this time around.
Jane Daniels (KTM) continues to be the favourite in the Women’s class. With a dominating performance in Aldershot, she’ll be eager to add to her winning tally at rounds three and four.
In Clubman the fight for victory is set to be a four-way battle between Matthew Solan (KTM), Gethin Francombe (TM), Richard Topping (Honda) and round one winner Jamie Jenkins (KTM).
With the 2012 Husqvarna ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship already proving to be a fiercely contested series, Llangrove is poised to deliver yet another weekend of exciting racing.
