With the third round of the Dutch Enduro Championship in Holten coming hot on the heels of round two, organisers laid on a challenging 70km loop to be ridden four times that included three distinctive special tests.
In E1, Lucas Dolfing (TM) finally delivered on the victory that he’d promised so far this season. Although leading the championship by virtue of two second place results in Enter and Einhoven, Dolfing knew that a victory in Eindhoven would prove critical leading into the summer break. Grabbing an initial advantage on the long and technical 13-minute enduro test, Dolfing opened a slender lead on opening run.
Following a couple of mistakes during the second and third special tests, both Bas Kein Haneveld (KTM) and Mike Kock (KTM) were able to close the gap on the TM rider. Entering into the fourth and final lap, Dolfing was able to control his advantage over Haneveld to claim victory by less than six seconds after 80 minutes of special tests.
Husaberg’s Hans Vogels continued on from where he left off in Eindhoven with yet another victory in E2 while also continuing to top the overall classification. Consistently faster than his nearest rivals on the Enduro Test, Vogels quickly opened up a 15-second lead at the end of opening lap. Finding a comfortable rhythm early on, Vogel steadily built up a commanding lead to grab his third consecutive victory in the 2012 Dutch Enduro Championship.
Second place this time fell to KTM’s Erald Lammertink. Lammertink, who struggled at round two quickly put that poor performance behind him by claiming an impressive second having narrowly beating Mark Wassink (KTM) by less than three tenths of a second.
Amel Advokaat (KTM) continues to be the rider on form in E3 as he recorded his hat trick of victories in Holten. After a slow start, Advokaat steadily found his race pace and after a battle with initial leader, Erwin Plekkenpol (KTM), he was able to push his KTM to the top of the standings at the end of lap two. Putting in a strong end to the second half of the day Advokaat eventually won E3 by over one minute from Plekkenpol. Bjorn Schreijer was third.
The Dutch Enduro Championship now takes a seven-month break, resuming on October 3rd in Havelte.
