The Red Bull Yamaha TMN Team racer, who won two stages of the Argentina-Chile-Peru Dakar this year, finished this competition 17m57s behind runner-up Marc Coma, who finished in second place, and 29m39s ahead of fourth placed Spanish racer Jordi Viladoms.
With these two wins, Hélder Rodrigues is now the Portuguese racer with the greatest number of victories in the Dakar Rally, from a total 19 victories achieved by Portuguese contestants in this competition.
Upon arriving in Lima, Hélder Rodrigues made a very positive balance of his sixth participation in the greatest all-terrain marathon rally: “It is fantastic to finish a Dakar Rally and an absolutely extraordinary feeling to reach a podium position. I was outraced by two great riders. I have an excellent motorbike, but I will need better financial support to be able to fight for the first place”.
After a poor start, Hélder Rodrigues climbed to the 3rd position in the general ranking in the fourth stage of the rally, having kept this position throughout the remaining fifteen days and more than 9,000 kilometres of this competition.
