KTM’s Laia Sanz made the perfect start to her 2017 EnduroGP Women’s Cup title defence with two wins from two starts in Spain.
After a closely fought battle against Maria Franke (KTM) on Saturday, the duo once again dominated the top of the classification, but this time with Sanz securing a slightly bigger margin of victory.
Franke set the pace on the opening test, bettering Sanz by seven seconds in the first extreme.
Sanz wasn’t about to take that lying down and retaliated by moving three seconds clear in the overall standings at the end of lap one.
One second faster in the cross test stretched her lead out to almost five seconds over Franke.
Beating Franke by 21 seconds in the following enduro test, Sanz brought victory within her grasp and despite Franke answering back with the final test win of the day, Sanz had more than enough in hand to top the podium for the second day in a row.
With Franke forced to settle for second, Husqvarna’s Jane Daniels completed the top three.
Jessica Gardiner (Yamaha) and Sanna Karkkainen (KTM) rounded out the top five.
