KTM’s Sam Sunderland has remained at the top of the Cross Country Rallies World Championship with victory at the Sealine Rally in Qatar.
Having won the opening stage of the rally, Sunderland kept focus at the top of the standings to emerge from today’s final stage as the winner.
With victory at the series opener in Abu Dhabi and now in Qatar, the 2017 Dakar Rally victor opens up a comfortable points lead in the standings.
Honda’s Paulo Goncalves placed as runner-up on the fourth and final stage to claim the runner-up result in the rally.
Placing third on stage four, KTM’s Mathias Walkner cemented his position as third overall in the final classification.
Stage four winner Pablo Quintanilla (Husqvarna) ended his rally fourth overall with Honda’s Kevin Benavides fifth.
Round three of the championship takes place in Chile next August.
