Putting the spotlight on amateur off road talent, Damon Rummel is this week’s Local Focus featured rider.

Born and raised in Connecticut, USA, 23-year-old law student Rummel can be found racing sprint enduro, GNCC and national enduro.

Riding bikes since the age of seven, he cut his teeth racing motocross. Rising through the amateur ranks, Damon recalls Loretta Lynns and the Pro Arenacross series as his motocross highlights before the off-road bug bit hard.

Sampling the New England JDay Off Road series sparked a woods racing love affair and since then he’s raced Hare Scrambles, GNCC and the Full Gas Sprint Enduro among others.

For 2017 the law student aims to compete in the NETRA and JDay series along with selected GNCC and National Enduro events when time allows.

However, Damon tells us Erzberg is now on his bucket list after a visit there in 2016…

“I went to Erzberg in 2016 to watch my good friend race it and now I definitely want to give it a go. It’s crazy, so much bigger in real life, it’s insane. My brother currently lives in Germany so my new purpose in life is to finish my law degree, go to Europe for the summer and try some European events.”

It’s not easy being a student and racing bikes, Damon thanks his mother and family of their support plus sponsors Amsoil, Fly Racing, Kenda Tires, Spy, 139 Designs, Renthal, Factory Connection, EVS, SIDI and Motool.
