The second round of 2016 Japanese Enduro Championship series took place in Osaka. The route was just 12km but included two different special tests per lap.
The venue for this round "Plaza Sakashita" is also placed very close to town centre so at the end of the race there was also a "Final Endurocross" in front of spectators.
Winner of the opening round, Kenji Suzuki (YAMAHA) showed strong riding from opening lap. Kenji won 11 out of 13 tests for the day.
"My two-stroke YZ250X was quite suitable for today's track condition,” said Suzuki. “Kugimura also made many mistakes, which helped me. However, I'm very happy to win.”
Other hand, his rival Tadashi Kugimura (Honda) was struggling to find a good rhythm during the whole day. Despite this, Kugimura still finished in second place with enough of a margin over third.
"Looking back on it I have always made mistake in Osakas,” admitted Kugimura. “In the morning I had a wrong tyre choice too.”
The final step of podium for the A class was rookie Yuta Kumamoto (Beta).
"This is my debut season for A class,” told Kumamoto. “I didn’t think I could podium so quickly so I'm very happy!"
In the B class. Seiji Numata (Kawasaki) and Ren Ishidoya (KTM) had a close battle for the entire day. During the second half of the race Numata showed more speed and increased his lead to Ishidoya.
Finally, Numata grabbed his first win in B class and got a ticket to step up to "A class for next round. His total time was enough for third overall.
Finishing 90 seconds behind, Ren Ishidoya finished as runner-up. Third place went to Husqvarna mounted Ryu Saeki.
The next round of the series takes place at the Hidaka Two Days Enduro on 17-18th September after long summer break.
