We put the ProTaper Profile Pro XPS levers to the test to find out if carrying a spare set of levers when you ride is now a thing of the past…
The ProTaper, Profile Pro XPS lever is the latest and greatest in the Profile control line. The XPS (Cross Pivot System) lever pivots in multiple directions, yet maintains a slim, low profile blade that you will not find with other folding levers.
We've taken our successful XPS (Cross Pivot System) lever and mirrored it for OEM quality fitment for the front brake master cylinder. With tool-less lever reach adjustability and the multi directional folding capabilities, the Profile Pro XPS lever can accommodate the widest range of bikes and riders on the market.
Quite possibly the ProTaper XPS levers were the most useful bolt-on part we’ve added to our WR250F test bike. Our man battling the Red Bull Romaniacs claims he lost count of the number of times he lost the front end and crashed with the handlebar region taking the brunt of the force. But each time the levers simply took it all and more.
Ask yourself how often have you fallen down and snapped a lever? The XPS flip-up design means your levers don’t break, leaving you clutch-less or without a front brake lever halfway up a mountain. Instead flip-up out the way allowing you to simply pick your bike back up and carry on.
Fitment was straightforward. The adjustable span and reach makes them useful for different hand sizes too.
They have good feel for one or two finger action on the levers and without a doubt they look and feel nicely engineered – exactly like the quality of product you’d expect from ProTaper.
So if a Romanian crash-fest is any sort of guide, then the Profile Pro XPS levers make spare levers in the bum bag a waste of space.
