Husqvarna’s Josh Strang has won the Swedish Gotland Grand National at his first attempt.
With Pela Renet absent having dominated the event for the last few years, Australian Strang stepped in as Husqvarna’s late replacement.
Fresh off his recent GNCC win in the US the previous weekend, Strang put that form to good use and secured the victory at the end of the three-hour style cross-country event.
Norway’s Even Heibye chased him across the finish line for second while Jesper Jönsson was the first Swedish rider home in third.
Favourite Joakim Ljunggren had a day to forget when he exited early with a rear wheel problem.
The biggest race on the Swedish off road calendar, the Gotland Grand National attracts upwards of a thousand competitors.
