A bit of news to hit our social media feeds this week is the unveiling of Husqvarna Bicycles, with a focus on the e-bike market.

Dressed in distinctive Husqvarna livery, the bicycle faction of the brand launched a range of electric bicycles in collaboration with German bike builder Pexco Bikes.

In keeping with their “moto” heritage, there are four different models to choose from covering mountain biking, hardtail cross-country riding and commuting — Mountain Cross, Light Cross, Cross Tourer and Gran City.

In the cycling world, e-bikes are experiencing rapid growth in recent years.

At November’s EICMA show in Milan, we couldn’t help but notice a sizeable amount of e-bikes parked up on a wide array of stands, so it figures that KTM Industries AG want in on the action too.

This has led to a collaboration between KTM Industries AG and PEXCO resulting in Husqvarna branded bicycles.

Germany based PEXCO say they see this strategic partnership opening up “undreamed-of possibilities” in terms of technology and strategy.

The PEXCO side of things is headed by Susanne Puello, who together with Felix Puello founded Haibike back in 1995

Husqvarna Bicycles also announced their first brand ambassador as Guido Tschugg, who was with Haibikes from 2015-17.

Readers will know Haibike from their stand at the ErzbergRodeo during 2016 and 2017 and it was Tschugg who carried the starting flag into the arena for the Red Bull Hare Scramble.
