Beta’s Steve Holcombe has made a winning start to the 2016 ACU British Enduro Championship claiming victory on both days of competition in Helmsley, North Yorkshire.
Heading a strong line-up of riders Holcombe battled his way through the demanding race conditions to win the overall classification at both rounds one and two of the series.
“Everything went as planned in Helmsley,” told Holcombe. “I’m glad I was able to make a winning return to the British Enduro Championship.”
Getting off to two strong starts, Holcombe started each day posting the fastest time in the opening tests.
With the muddy and rutted terrain proving challenging, Steve went on to race smartly and retain the lead in the overall classification until the end of each day.
“On day one I won the first two tests fairly comfortably and had enough of a cushion to take it steady and get the win.
“On day two I started with some really good test times and just kept plugging away. I’m feeling great at the moment and it’s nice to see all the hard work paying off.
Behind Holcombe, Brad Freeman (KTM) recorded a double runner-up result in his first competitive outing following almost a year of injury.
TM’s Josh Gotts was third on Saturday, while Yamaha mounted Jamie Lewis finished third on Sunday.
