Johnny Aubert looks like he may be considering a move to GNCC Racing for 2017.
The two-time enduro world champion and twice ISDE overall winner has pencilled in two rounds of the 2016 GNCC series into his racing calendar.
Aubert made the announcement on Instagram that he will race both the Mountaineer Run and Powerline Park GNCC’s during his trip to the States with Beta USA.
It’s great news for championship and will certainly add some international spice with Aubert squaring up against regulars like Kailub Russell and Josh Strang.
But reading between the lines, we’re speculating that there maybe more to this than meets the eye.
Is Aubert testing the waters for a possible assault on the championship in 2017?
Beta USA currently don’t have a rider capable of challenging for the GNCC title so if this trip goes well, then the Frenchman might just become that guy.
With another year left on his Beta contract, this development - if it happens - will mean Aubert could become the first top level enduro rider to be squeezed out of EnduroGP when the two class ruling is introduced next year.
