Game, set and match as Steve Holcombe wins the 2017 EnduroGP World Championship.
Backing up his 2016 Enduro 3 World Championship, Holcombe stole a march on his rivals on the opening day of the EnduroGP of Germany to seal the deal with a win.
Holding a 40-point advantage entering the final round of the series in Zschopau, Beta mounted Holcombe didn’t exactly need to win to wrap up the title.
But aiming to do it in style, that’s pretty much what he did.
Seventh in Friday’s super test, the Brit got down to business today by taking the lead on the opening test.
Building on that throughout the day, he went on to claim a 20-second margin of victory over Christophe Nambotin and closest challenger Loic Larrieu in third.
The battle for the Enduro2 and Junior titles are set to go down to the wire in tomorrow's final day of racing in the 2017 series.
