The Verd Extreme Enduro is a new race on our radar and certainly looks like one closely based on Erzberg.
Coming just 14 days after the Erzberg, the race in Slovenia is a mini Hard Enduro festival with some hill climb action in addition to the main event itself.
This year, June 16-19, saw 80 competitors from eight different countries descend on the Verd quarry in Vrhnika for the second edition of the event.
With 22 riders making it to the finish line, it was Austria’s Bertl Philipp who passed home favourite Miha Spindler on the final climb to snatch the win. Third went to Ben Hemingway.
"I knew that victory would come down to the final climb and that was my only chance to overtake Špindler,” told Philipp. “His motocross experience saw him lead the whole race but just at the right time I made my trials technique count.
"The track was fantastic, the organisation was great and I’ll come back next year."
The main event was a 30 kilometre extreme loop around the quarry.
