With the countdown to ErzbergRodeo 2017 all but over, Jonny Walker returns to Austria’s Iron Giant after a year’s absence ready to fight for a fourth title.

“Nothing compares to the atmosphere and the craziness of racing at the ErzbergRodeo,” told Walker. “I can’t wait to get to Erzberg and get racing this year.

“In some ways it feels like this year’s race has come around sooner than in previous years, but I’m really looking forward to getting back on the mountain and lining up for my first prologue run.

Forced to miss the event last year following a broken leg on superenduro duty, Walker returns to the Iron Giant fit, healthy and highly motivated to try and secure a fourth Red Bull Hare Scramble victory.

“Not racing at Erzberg last year due to injury was really tough. I feel good at the moment and after finishing on the podium at Lagares in Portugal recently I’m definitely fired up.”

Earning his first win back in 2012, Jonny again topped the podium two years later in 2014. In 2015 Walker was declared one of four winners alongside Graham Jarvis, Andreas Lettenbichler and Alfredo Gomez.

“No one ever knows what to expect when it comes to the course, the weather and how everything will pan out, but that’s part of what makes Erzberg so special and such a huge event.

“The goal for the prologue is the same as always – to get safely to the top of the mountain and onto the front row of the start.

“After that it’s just to try and make as good a start as possible, keep my head down and keep pushing all the way to the finish.”

The 2017 Erzberg Red Bull Hare Scramble will be broadcast live on Sunday, June 18th on
