KTM Enduro Factory Team riders Alfredo Gomez and Jonny Walker are ready and looking for success at the Red Bull Romaniacs Hard Enduro Rallye, which kicks off today in Sibiu, Romania.

Known as one of the world’s toughest hard enduro events, ‘The Wild One’ as the organisers have named it for 2017 promises to be an event to remember.

Kicking off with the iconic and crazy prologue held in the streets of Sibiu, riders head into the Carpathian Mountains for what promises to be four tough days of extreme riding.

Both Alfredo Gomez, who secured a memorable win at the ErzbergRodeo Red Bull Hare Scramble back in June, and Jonny Walker head to Romania with only one goal – to successfully complete the arduous multi-day event and battle for the top step of the Romaniacs podium.

“I am really looking forward to Romaniacs,” told Gomez. “Sibiu is a beautiful place and I really love the event. I was so happy to win the Red Bull Hare Scramble last month, the biggest result of my career. I hope to carry that form into Romaniacs and step to the top of the podium again.

“Graham Jarvis will be hard to beat and my team-mate, Jonny Walker, will be looking for another win. I am confident in myself though and my KTM 300 EXC is working really well.”

“There is no special preparation for Romaniacs. I don’t try to practice riding for seven-hour sessions. My training follows the usual plan of riding different conditions and terrain.

“It is too easy to become comfortable riding one technique and neglect the other styles. Romaniacs is always difficult, this year will be no different. But I can't wait."

“Romaniacs is different to every other major hard enduro on the calendar. The early mornings, the long days of riding and the added pressure of relying on GPS to stay ahead, this is what makes Romaniacs a unique challenge. I am confident in how I am riding, and know I can challenge for the win.”

Alfredo’s KTM Factory Racing team-mate, Jonny Walker, will also be gunning for the win in Romania. Winner of the event in 2015, Walker was forced to retire last year due to aggravating an existing leg injury. The British rider is focused on challenging for the win at Romaniacs.

The Red Bull Romaniacs celebrates its 14th edition this year. Racing starts with the Prologue in the streets of Sibiu, July 25th.
