After a fond farewell to the team which brought him a SuperEnduro Junior World Championship, Kevin Gallas has taken a fresh start ahead of the Erzbergrodeo 2018.
As Kevin Gallas prepares for Erbergrodeo 2018 with a fresh look and new sponsors on the side of his Husqvaran TE300i, we caught up with the SuperEnduro Junior world champ to find out what’s going on…
“I stepped away from my old Team Hillclimb and Grenzgaenger after Lagares.” Says Gallas. “At this point I want to thank them for all they did for me and all their support. It was a really good two and a half years and we achieved something amazing winning the SuperEnduro Junior title.
“Right now it is time to move forward with support from my old sponsors and build into a new, one-man team on my own. It’s a privateer team but MH Motorrader support me more now but I am a privateer team of one person.
“I don’t know right now if I will do all of the WESS rounds, if there is a chance to I would like to but right now my plan is to just do the extreme races.
“It was all a bit hectic when the deal came together – I was still racing with the old team in Lagares (where Kevin finished on the prologue podium but had to retire with a mechanical in the main race) and I only had one week to get things sorted really for Erzberg.
“That was so much work in a short space to be ready to go here I didn’t plan any further ahead so we will see after Erzberg where we are at and plan.
“I’m still on the Husqvarna 300 EXC but it is a new one, I’ve switched to the fuel injected model now.
“I’m really looking forward to Erzberg, it is the biggest and best extreme event. It suits my style more this race. My aim is to be on the podium, I think I can but you also have to ride knowing there are so many factors here which can affect your result. You only need to have one little off and it affects things.
“Also there are so many good riders here and all in good shape ready to go. But I am in good shape also and I am ready to go also. I am happy and ready to go in my new team with the people around me supporting me."
