Vintage performance from Graham Jarvis comfortably seals the Alès Trêm Hard Enduro victory ahead of Mario Roman and Wade Young.
Graham Jarvis has continued his winning start to 2019 with victory at the 2019 Alès Trêm Extreme Enduro in France. Heading a quality entry, Jarvis pulled clear on the third of three long laps to finish 12 minutes clear of Mario Roman with Wade Young rounding the podium a further seven minutes back.
Manuel Lettenbichler was fourth and final rider to complete three laps of the course.
Speaking at the finish, Jarvis said: “It was a really, really tough ride and a long day, more difficult than last year but the conditions were drier so if you had the confidence it kept going. In the end I managed to win by a long margin so it was good – just like old times!”
Sherco duo complete the podium
Mario Roman followed up his win in 2018 with second place this year in an event in which he has a strong record: “I feel very happy. This year I was struggling a lot to follow the top three because the track was pretty easy. I was waiting for my moment, kept pushing and on the third lap I find them struggling (Wade Young and Manni Lettenbichler), overtook them and never looked back. I am very happy to finish behind Graham. It is a good result.”
Wade Young made it home in third to complete a good podium for Sherco with Roman: “I thought I’d saved a lot of energy going into the last lap. I rushed through the pit and didn’t change my tyre because I saw Graham ahead of me. That was maybe my mistake because it cost me a lot of time on the last lap but we all make these mistakes and it was a good event.”
Manuel Lettenbichler was fourth overall after winning Saturday’s prologue race. “I feel pretty good,” said Manni at the finish. “Wade and I were riding a lot together but I went the wrong way and couldn’t get back. It was an off-camber bit and then Mario was coming and I lost a lot of time at this point. But fourth is ok.”
