Highlights from the third round of the 2019 Portuguese Hard Enduro Series (PHES) in Monsaraz where Sherco Racing's Mario Roman took the win.

Based this time in the southern region of Portugal and the picturesque e village of Alentejo, the third round of PHES in 2019 saw 168 riders tackle a prologue qualifier before the main three-hour race.

The 20km course saw Roman complete a total of four laps finishing one clear lap ahead of second placed Ricardo Damil. Ni Esteves ran Damil close but had to settle for third overall.

“Monsaraz was an awesome race with really good riding and was good training for me.” Said Roman.

“It is a really good location with the castle in the village and the big lake where the course runs is spectacular. The course was really slippery in places, nothing really hard but in places difficult because of the grip.

“It was quite tough to make four laps in a row with no rest. I had the chance to test a few things on my Sherco here and I am really happy with the performance. Now I'm looking forward to Extreme Lagares and I hope I can carry this form forward to that event.”
