Taddy Blazusiak secured a confidence-boosting win in the 2019 Red Bull Romaniacs Prologue final – take the entire race onboard with Taddy on the crazy Hard Enduro street course.
Round five of the World Enduro Super Series, Red Bull Romaniacs officially got underway in the usual spectacular fashion today at the city prologue on the streets of Sibiu.
Taddy Blazusiak proved to be the rider to beat with the holeshot and a confident win on a course that was tough but admittedly easier than in the past, Blazusiak controlled the lead for the majority of the race.
Early challenges from first Billy Bolt and then Wade Young didn’t didn’t stop Blazusiak.
Walker and Tarres fight for second
Behind Blazusiak the fight for the podium places was intense as Young made mistakes and slipped backwards before Jonny Walker and Pol Tarres kept on keeping on.
Tarres momentarily took second but a mistake on a log beam allowed Walker back past to take place second with Tarres an impressive third. Alfredo Gomez rode a quiet race for fourth, with teammate Bolt in fifth.
After the race, Blazusiak said his win felt good in front of the huge crowds: “I had a great start - Billy Bolt was to the side of me and riding aggressive, but I thought to myself I'm not having any of it. I got my head down and charged for a few laps, but then I made a little mistake.
“Luckily, I had a good gap to the guys behind so was able to stay in front. From then on I rode defensive lines and just took it steady. It feels great to get the win, although it doesn't mean that much in terms of the whole event, however it’s still a good feeling to win here in front of the crowds.”
