Entries open for the 2019 Roof of Africa which will go back to its origins and promises to put itself back on the Hard Enduro world map.
As entries for the 2019 Roof of Africa open, changes in race location and organisation have been announced with the aim to bring the classic event of Hard Enduro back its origins.
The Mother of Hard Enduro will return to Lesotho on December 4-7, 2019 to honour the race’s best traditions with events management company, Live Lesotho, taking over the show.
As in previous years the race will be run by the Lesotho Off-Road Association and will have Motul as the title sponsor for the fourth year in a row.
2019 will also see the return of the popular ‘Round of the Houses’ prologue through the streets of Maseru with Gold riders taking on an Endurocross stage at the Maseru Mall, and Silver and Bronze riders taking a more traditional time trial in Thaba Bosiu.
“Lesotho has so much to offer,” said Roof of Africa route director and Live Lesotho manager, Charan Moore. “This year we want to open the original extreme enduro event up to more riders than ever before. We’re going to put the Roof back on the map when it comes to extreme enduro events.”
Once more the Gold class will see the elite riders face some of Africa’s toughest terrain while the Silver class will offer the more experienced amateurs a chance to test their riding skills. As part of Live Lesotho’s fresh approach, the two classes won’t have any qualification criteria.
The access to the Bronze class, intended to be a more inclusive class, is gained via qualifier races and with more than 250 riders having already gained that status it promises to be well supported once again.
Early bird entries are available at a price of R5000 until the end of August when they’ll gradually increase until the full price of R6500 is reached in November. The last day to place an entry for 2019 Roof of Africa will be November 15.
