The 2019 Red Bull Los Andes Hard Enduro race in Chile began yesterday with a prologue on a shopping mall where Benjamin Herrera took the win over Mario Roman and Eloi Salsench.

One of the most iconic Hard Enduro races in South America, the Red Bull Los Andes, got underway yesterday, October 17, with one of the most insane prologue courses around a shopping mall - ride onboard with winner Benjamin Herrera.

Red Bull Los Ander main race – Chaleco Lopez on track designing duties

Herrera took the super-slippery prologue win ahead of 2018 Los Andes winner, Mario Roman. The real deal will be this Saturday where the riders head to Nido de Condores to tackle four laps on a 15 kilometres Hard Enduro track that will test the rider’s abilities and strengths.

Once More Dakar ace Francisco “Chaleco” Lopez is in charge of designing the track where over 250 riders will battle their way through numerous uphills and downhills as well as artificial obstacles to reach the finish line.

All eyes are set on last year’s winner Mario Roman who’s looking to make it to the top spot once more at the Chilean event. Judging by his results this year it doesn’t look like a difficult task for the Sherco rider who has only missed the podium once, in Red Bull Romaniacs, out of all the races he has contested.

Roman will face some fierce competition from local EnduroGP racers Herrera and Ruy Barbosa as well as from his fellow countryman Eloi Salsench.  Herrera has already shown his cards with a prologue win and Barbosa despite having missed the prologue due to testing duties with the Jolly Enduro Team will be lining up on Saturday aiming for a home soil win.
