Here come the Men In Black, Yamaha’s WR450F Rally is looking very stealthy…
Yamaha have ditched the traditional blue and white colours on their rally bike and gone full stealth mode with a very eye catching black and grey colour scheme.
With the final round of the FIM Cross Country Rallies series taking place in Morocco this week it traditionally provides the last major shakedown for teams ahead of January’s Dakar Rally.
And with nothing more testing than a race, it also means teams tend to roll out their Dakar race bikes.
Although naturally keeping fairly tight lipped about the finer details of the bike, Yamaha have said that both the engine and chassis remain unchanged but we can see that fuel tanks and the front end have gotten an overhaul.
Distribution of weight is vastly important in rally with the objective of keeping fuel tanks as low as possible to reduce the bike’s centre of gravity and keep it as slim and comfortable to ride as possible.
The weeklong Rally Oilibya of Morrocco gets underway in earnest today, Monday, so it’s going to be interesting to see how Yamaha’s Men In Black get on and if those changes pay off.
