“Truly revised from the ground up” KTM 450 Rally Replica goes straight to number one on the want list for privateer rally racers.
Based on the hugely successful Dakar-winning factory machines, KTM’s new 450 Rally Replica will be high on the want list for rally teams and privateers.
Developed in competition at the world’s toughest rally events, the replica model is a very close version of those factory race bikes ridden by Walkner, Price, Sunderland and Sanz.
Improvements across the engine and chassis have been widely praised by the factory riders since KTM launched the new factory bikes ahead of the 2018 Dakar Rally – putting this replica model very much in demand.
KTM 450 Rally Replica details:
The 450cc SOHC fuel-injection engine sees an increase in engine power for this 2019 model, with a redesigned cylinder head delivering extended durability. An improved transmission has a new engine management system and throttle body complimenting each other.
A key element reported by the factory riders is the improved handling of their race machines. Changes to chassis and components to affect the weight distribution have all contributed to an easier handling bike. Offering more room for the battery and electronic components, a new air filter box helps centralization of mass – a key focus in the development of this model.
The 2019 KTM 450 Rally Replica also boasts a brand-new chassis, tested and developed by factory riders: more agility with enhanced straight-line and braking stability they say.
The new swingarm works in conjunction with a reworked linkage and WP shock absorber. This, along with WP XACT PRO 48mm closed cartridge front forks using sophisticated Cone Valve technology, provides improved traction when accelerating, as well as improving ground clearance.
Aerodynamic bodywork aids rider comfort while improving visibility past the innovative carbon tower ready to house navigational systems. A softer seat, revised fuel tanks and honed Akrapovič exhaust system also contribute to better mass centralization and improved weight distribution.
Stefan Huber (KTM Factory Rally Team Leader): “The all-new KTM 450 Rally Replica is based on our already-successful factory machine that we began racing at the end of last year, which was specifically developed to win the Dakar.
“With this latest generation, our goal and focus was to develop a bike around the style of our current factory riders, who required something with more comfort, more agility and improved stability. We looked for an improvement in handling, a lower weight, as well as a bike that also meets the demands of the conditions and intensity that we now find at Dakar.
“The KTM 450 Rally Replica machine is almost identical to those raced by our athletes, and is available for customers to get the opportunity to own and ride a really premium, purpose-developed rally machine with high-quality components and maximum innovation. It’s been truly revised from the ground up, and we are looking forward to seeing these bikes being raced by our customers.”
The limited 75 unit production run of the KTM 450 Rally Replica comes at a price of EUR 26,000 (plus VAT). Consider that is for a purpose-built racing machine and compare it to other forms of bike sport and it suddenly seems like value.
It must be in fact because as we understand it all 75 units are already sold. With the success of the bikes in rally competition since the model update the factory riders have been using all year it is no surprise the privateer riders and teams want them.
