Results from stage four of the 2019 Dakar Rally in Peru where Ricky Brabec bounces back with victory and moves to the top of the overall moto leaderboard.
After a difficult day three, Ricky Brabec has turned the tables right around and won stage four of the 2019 Dakar Rally. The Monster Energy Honda Rally rider jumped to the top of the timing sheets from the very first waypoint and was never headed.
The storming ride today means Brabec follows in the footsteps of the few North American riders including Kurt Caselli to take multiple Dakar stage wins. More's the point Ricky now leads the general standings!
On the flip-side, the overnight leader Pablo Quintanilla dropped down the order steadily through the stage. The Chilean finished over 20 minutes back from Brabec, turning an 11 minute lead into a two minute deficit – Quintanilla now sits second overall.
Toby Price had another stealthy and consistent day finishing 7m07s back on Brabec in third. The Australian is also now third overall, 4m22s back on the leader. His team-mate, Matthias Walkner, also came back with a bang after errors yesterday coming home 6m19s behind the stage victor.
Lorenzo Santolino continues to be best rookie rider in 13th place overall for Sherco Racing while Max Hunt comfortably leads the Original by Motul (Malle Moto) class in 38th place overall.
