Canyon MX in Peoria, Arizona, hosted WORCS Racing round four where Taylor Robert took the win in front of Dante Oliveira and Andrew Short.
The cactus-strewn Peoria WORCS track was a technical and tricky track for comepetitors at the fourth WORCS round of 2019 but that didn't prevent Taylor Robert from maintaining his 100 per cent win record this season. The mix of MX and off-road sections, plus three additional Pro segments to the track, were all dry and rocky with plenty of prickly plants out there to catch riders.
The first drop-gate start of the season played well for Robert who grabbed the holeshot and went on to ride his own race. Having won four out of four WORCS races in 2019 it looks very much like the KTM rider is back to full fitness and on top of his game.
Happy with the results, Robert said: “I got off to a great start with the holeshot, it was my first of the season, so that felt good. I really wanted to get the holeshot, too, because there were a couple of filthy sections that I knew were going to spread people apart on the first lap.
“All-in-all, the track was really technical and you had to be on your toes because there were a lot of rocks out there. I just kept pushing and tried to be as smooth as possible and not let the rocks get the best of me. The WORCS crew did a really good job, they put in a couple ‘Pro only’ sections that were really technical, so that was fun.”
Dante Oliveira is proving he’s comfortable in the Pro class with two second position finishes in a row, his third podium of the season. Like Robert, Dante was quickly into second place after the gate dropped and made it stick. He now sits second in the points standing behind Robert.
The series rookie, Andrew Short, was able to ride his Husqvarna to another podium finish. He came fourth initially, but Ricky Dietrich was penalised for cutting the track during the race allowing Short to make it to third.
The fastest man in the Pro qualifying, Gary Sutherlin, suffered a hard crash after the lap resulting in a broken foot.
