Kailub Russell heads to the Mountaineer GNCC, round 12 of the 2019 series, with his eyes focused on his seventh consecutive title.
The 12th round of the GNCC series could see Kailub Russell becoming the 2019 champion, ramping his title count up to seven, all won consecutively. The KTM rider took hold of the white number plate at the second round of this season and hasn’t let it go, clocking six wins, two second places and a sixth place in the process.
Russell’s main rival in the championship, Thad Duvall, enters the penultimate round of the championship with his second place secured and a 37 points deficit after his previous round victory.
The Mountaineer GNCC is an all new event at the renowned Summit Bechtel Reserve and Duvall’s home race, so expect the Husqvarna rider eager to make his first back-to-back win this season.
Duvall’s only chance of the title is to win both remaining rounds, a second place finish would be enough for Russell to claim the 2019 championship this weekend.
Even if everything goes pear-shaped for Russell, and Duvall takes the win, he will be need to finish second or higher at the last round to take the 2019 title.
The 1 pm Pro bike race will be broadcast live by Racer TV on their website: www.racertv.com
