AMA announces two new Extreme Off Road Series for 2020

American Motorcyclist Association has announced two new Extreme Off-Road Series in 2020 –  nine events in East and West series leading to Tennessee Knockout in August.

As Hard Enduro continues to grow in the United States, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has announced both East and West championships featuring nine events for 2020 plus the all-important Grand Championship at Tennessee Knockout.

It’s all part of the build, build, build process for Extreme and Hard Enduro in North America and nine rounds in total, with RevLimiter Extreme forming part of both series’, signals the AMA is finally  behind the sport.

Separating the series across the East and West is obviously historically and logistically ‘standard’ practice for off road riders in the US. The nine rounds also stand as qualifying races for the 2020 AMA Extreme Off-Road Grand Championship, the Tennessee Knockout (TKO), August 14 – 16 which is part of the WESS World Championship next year.

The qualifying system in East and West opens 26 more spots to secure a starting position in the TKO’s Saturday afternoon race – participation at any qualifying events with the top 10 finisher in each event moving directly to the TKO 2 competition.

Additionally, the podium finishers from each qualifying race, who are not included on the invite riders list, will be granted a spot at the Sunday Pro races.

“With this new format, more riders can qualify directly to the Saturday afternoon and Sunday races, instead of having to race their way in on Saturday morning,” said Erek Kudla, AMA Off-Road Racing Manager.

“The nine qualifying events bring extreme off-road competition to regions across the nation, and we welcome back several events to the qualifier schedule that did a great job serving as AMA State Championships in 2019.”
