As October rolls out and winter begins, here’s a look back at the best bits of the month…
Is there any end to Taylor Robert’s talent on a dirt bike? Enduro, endurocross, Baja and backflips. Winning this year’s ISDE outright, Robert rightly claims our title of Rider of the Month.
The student beats the teacher. Ivan Cervantes took Josep Garcia under his wing a while back and there wasn’t a prouder man in the house when Cervantes learnt that his student won the ISDE outright on day two.
Dropping in. There was no room for error popping off this vertical rock face at GetzenRodeo. Jonny Walker opts for the big boys line. Respect.
Graham Jarvis incredibly holds a six-year reign at the GetzenRodeo having now won the last three editions of the race. He was simply unstoppable this time around with even Alfredo Gomez admitting to not having an answer for him.
The light at the end of the tunnel. It’s a sight every competitor in this year’s ISDE was happy to see. The final work period at the end of day five.
The Turkish shoreline in Kemer came alive once more to sound of dirt bikes. As everyone blasted away from the start of the Mountain Race it was Lars Enockl who reached the summit first pocketing his first ever Red Bull Hard Enduro win.
It only took 91 tries but Team USA finally got the job done and won the International Six Days Enduro. From day one they established themselves as the leading team, hanging strong at the top of the standings during each day of the race. A victory well deserved and long over due.
At this year’s ISDE you needed to know your SWM’s from your KTM’s with the introduction of the Vintage Race. It was pretty cool seeing all manner and mean of twin shockers back on track and shreddin’ hard.
Australia once again proved they have the best women’s team in enduro but they did face their toughest ISDE title defence with both Spain and Germany pushing them hard.
October signed off with Germany’s GetzenRodeo. A cracking event for both riders and spectators, it’s well worth putting this one on your to-do bucket list, though you’ll have to wait until 2018 for the next one.
