Part one of the 2013 Hell’s Gate Hard Enduro is now complete. With conditions resembling that of an Alpine ski resort, KTM’s Jonny Walker secured an early advantage with victory in the morning timecard enduro.
Fighting hard to master the deep snowy conditions the young Brit topped the first two timed special tests to win the race by over 15 seconds from Husaberg’s Graham Jarvis.
Proving to be quite comfortable in the conditions, Jarvis struck back and delivered a winning result in the third and final special test to end the race closely behind Walker.
Although not having any previous snow riding experience, US rider, Beta’s Cody Webb, remained in close contention to the leaders, placing just 46 seconds shy of Walker.
Impressing his home crowd, Italy’s Diego Nicoletti (Beta) finished fourth while Maurizio Lenzi (KTM) also added to the Italian success by completing the top five.
For the top 30 riders that secured a place in the evening race that begins at 3pm, the formidable Hell’s Peak awaits.
