Signing off on a solid outdoor season with his third Hard Enduro podium in as many weeks, Monday’s Shout Out goes to Mario Roman.
Often a rider can slip under the radar even if their results should suggest otherwise. We felt it time to give Mario Roman a deserved pat on the back.
Bringing his 2016 outdoor season to a close in Ecuador, Roman pick up his third consecutive Hard Enduro podium.
Three races in three weeks, Mario has joined teammate Graham Jarvis and fellow countryman Alfredo Gomez on the podium in Germany, Spain and now Ecuador.
And if not a time penalty, that runner-up result in Ecuador would have been a win.
In a sport where guys like Jarvis and Jonny Walker repeatedly grab the lion’s share of the limelight, Roman has quietly and confidently performed to the best of his ability at every given opportunity in what could be considered his first full season of Hard Enduro competition.
Third at Hell’s Gate, a fantastic fourth at Erzberg, second at Extreme Lagares and then as a Romaniacs rookie he came within a whisker of standing on the podium.
Arguably his best ride of 2016 will go down in the record books as the Red Bull 111 Megawatt, placing less than two seconds behind Walker for the runner-up result.
That result certainly inspired a wealth of confidence and belief in the Spaniard that’s helped him see out his season as strongly as he’s just done.
But unfortunately there is a downside despite such success. Mario is currently in limbo land searching for a ride in 2017.
Out of contract with Husqvarna for next year, he’s chasing a ride to keep his racing career on track.
Fingers are crossed the Spaniard’s luck will come good because with results like that Mario is a young talent Hard Enduro can’t afford to loose.
