2024 EnduroGP World Championship results from the Slovakian Super Test where flying Brit on a Beta, Brad Freeman, claims the Akrapovic award on the night ahead of Nathan Watson and Zach Pichon clocking equal times for joint second.

EnduroGP Rnd 5, Slovakia Friday Super Test in a nutshell:

  • Warm, dry and sunny conditions prevail across Gelnica and the surrounding area, home to the 2024 Paulo Duarte FIM EnduroGP of Slovakia, round five of the series.
  • It made for pleasant conditions for the Friday Super Test, attracting a decent crowd to the stadium in the town to watch riders tackle an approximately two-minute-long test largely constructed but with some decent dirt for tyres to bite, heck, there was even some mud out there between the logs!
  • Youth 125 class riders started the show which traditionally runs in reverse order on a Friday night, ending just after 8pm local time with the EnduroGP elite.
  • As ever it was a buzzing scene of two-stroke smoke and a tight contest up the top of the sheets with Frenchman Romain Dagna putting his Sherco less than half a second quicker over the logs than Italian Luca Colorio with Spain’s Alex Puey third. Title contenders Albeto Elgari and Manuel Verzeroli were P4 and P8 respectively.
  • The Juniors were next on track and among the regular riders was flying Aussie Kyron Bacon once again dropping in on EnduroGP with the Johansson MPE Yamaha team support on an awesome looking bike.
  • Bacon was fast but not quite fast enough as Leo Joyon, Kevin Cristino and Matej Skuta all jumped ahead, the Czech rider bagging his maiden Junior class Super Test “win” with a 1:46.08.
  • Skuta’s compatriot Krystof Kouble laid down the first major heater lap in the seniors next, a 1:45.08 which took a lot of beating, like most the senior classes.
  • As we headed towards the sharp end it was that man again Matteo Cavallo, winner of the Super Test two GPs ago in Romania, rocketing through a second faster on the TM.
  • But then it was like a game of hot shots as the riders on track toppled the marker in the pairings. Last out of the blocks, points leader Josep Garcia and second-placed Andrea Verona, were pretty evenly matched but surprisingly not the fastest.
  • That honour went to a Frenchman and two British Beta riders with Zach Pichon and Nathan Watson remarkably set equal times on 1:42.31 for joint second place.
  • Fastest of all though was a Brad Freeman claiming the Akrapovic Super Test victory in his usual flamboyant style with a time of 1:42.05. Going head-to-head with Steve Holcombe seemed to bring out the best in Brad tonight but all eyes now turn to Saturday when the real action starts.
  • Tomorrow sees three long laps of three tests each, beginning from 9am and concluding from around 4pm. Check the onboard track preview here to see what the tests look like.
  • Stay tuned to Enduro21 for the results, rider quotes and video highlights across the weekend.
