2025 Roof of Africa: Time Trial Results – Billy Bolt fastest on day one in Lesotho
Results from day one of the 2025 Roof of Africa Hard Enduro in Lesotho, the final round of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship, where Billy Bolt has set the fastest time in Time Trial qualification ahead of Mani Lettenbichler and James Moore.
Riders went in Silver, Bronze, Iron and then Gold class order to tackle the just under 10 kilometre, and around 30-minute (less for the Pro riders) Time Trial course at the ’25 Roof. The main Gold class and HEWC riders went last of all with two laps at their disposal to find their flow on a course which mixed different terrain but in dry conditions.
Billy Bolt and Mani Lettenbichler proved the fastest overall, predictably. The pair set times over one minute quicker than the best of the rest on the first loop. Both had their moments and were not immune to crashes and navigation issues were an issue for many.
The Husqvarna rider carried that through to the naturally quicker second time attack but, along with Letti, found the local boy James Moore flying the South African flag (in Wade Young’s absence), chasing them hard to take third.
Bolt took the three points for the win, which could prove crucial in his battle with Mitch Brightmore for second overall in the HEWC series final count on Saturday.
Teo Kabakchiev went quicker than Brightmore to take fourth and fifth respectively, although 58s and 1:10 behind. Mario Roman was sixth and over two minutes adrift.
Worth remembering that this is qualifying effectively and will count for start order on the long, main race day one tomorrow.
Former Roof race director and Dakar Originals winner Charan Moore rocked the Silver class fastest time. Stiaan van Den Heever was fastest in Bronze and Gideo Malherbe took the Iron top time.
Day one tomorrow, Friday, promises a traditional day of Roof riding with navigation a key factor on the long course which features very little route marking.
