Pro bike tips from the X-Grip Racing team and Mitch Brightmore at the Hixpania Hard Enduro showing a smart place to stash spare brake and clutch levers.

Enduro21 likes to hoover up details from Pro riders and teams about their bikes, checking out what they’re doing differently or extra to whichever model of bike they're racing. We do that because we ride too and want the hints and tips to make our own riding lives better.

One of those tricks of the hard enduro trade is where to stash and carry spares. The school of thought is the more you can put on your bike, the better in terms of not having the weight in your backpack or in a bum bag. So stashing parts which are easily breakable in hard enduro, like handlebar levers, on the bike is a no-brainer.

We spotted this earlier on the X-Grip Racing team’s bikes in the Hard Enduro World Championship but wanted to get a clean shot to show what they’re up to. What we like about this stash place is how easy it is to access.

We brought you a closer look at Mani Lettenbichler’s KTM and he showed us how he was using the underseat cubby hole above the airbox to good effect, putting some of his spares in a cut-out foam insert.

Mitch’s solution is slightly different in that he’s cable-tied a lever on each side of the radiator guard. This rad guard, X Grip’s own accessory part, is the metal type and so is robust enough to cope with the levers being there but also with Mitch removing them in a hurry.

To get them off you simply twist and turn the cable tie to make it snap. It’s quick access, and so long as the 8 mm is easy to whip out as well, Mitch should be able to switch the broken one for a fresh lever in a minute.
