Triumph Motorcycles has announced the acquisition of leading electric off-road brand for children, OSET Bikes.

Hailed as a “new step in its strategic plan aimed at marketing a complete range of off-road motorcycles” Triumph’s aiming squarely at both a new generation of motorcyclists and the growing future of electric-powered machines.

While we still await the launch of Triumph’s off-road motorcycle range, this represents an important milestone for the Hinckley factory as they reach into the off-road market and ahead of motocross and enduro models being launched.

Acquiring OSET brings further access the off-road segment and gives both companies the possibility of sharing and mutually benefiting from each other’s knowledge and experience in their respective fields, which will allow them to grow internationally in parallel.

Triumph's 'For The Ride' mentality has played a decisive role in the acquisition of OSET because they hope it will motivate future generations of motorcyclists by giving them the perfect starting point to develop their passion for two wheels.

Triumph-branded e-bikes?

Both brands will continue to work independently although Nick Bloor, CEO of Triumph Motorcycles Ltd, explains, “Triumph and OSET will collaborate on new cutting-edge products to inspire young off-road riders within the the categories in which Triumph and OSET will have a presence, building on their respective strengths to build the best motorcycles in the world.”

Ian Smith founded the OSET Bikes brand in 2004, when he wanted to build an electric off-road motorcycle for his son Oliver. Since then, OSET has been the benchmark in its segment for 18 years and has sold more than 40,000 motorcycles powered by in-house developed electrical systems worldwide.

The company, which offers products suitable for any motorcyclist from the age of three, will remain as such in the market and will continue to serve the needs of the trial and off-road motorcycling community in general.

The CEO of OSET Bikes has been excited about the future together with the Triumph family and has declared: “We are now better positioned to continue innovating and developing our entire range, while benefiting from the security and market position that Triumph can offer to OSET.”
